Single Spotlight: Aly Raisman

Dear friends and followers of my blog,

I wanted to share something very personal, touching, and special with all of you today. It was so moving to see Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman's performance at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Chills ran down my spine as she performed her routine to the music of "Hava Nagila" - love that she showed off her Jewish pride on such an international scale! This song is an iconic tune of joy, celebration, and life! Maybe it was her personal tribute to the Munich Massacre, when Israeli athletes were murdered in 1972. It moved me so much that tears ran down my face throughout her performance. It is perhaps hard to understand and relate to for those of you who were lucky to be born in America and never to have experienced the sadness and torment of being persecuted for religious beliefs.

However, for those who were ever touched by this torment, there are incredible individuals and athletes - like Aly Raisman - who have dared to defy the norm, stand up for something personal, and win! Aly you are my hero!!

Way to go, for the American Team, the American Dream, and the Freedom of Expression, we are so lucky and fortunate to be here in this incredible country we live in!! Way to go, Aly!!!!

Be sure to follow Aly on Twitter here.

Xo, G
