My Wild Vegas Weekend

After celebrating this festive season at numerous holiday soirees, I thought I'd have some time to rest and rejuvenate before jumping back into party mode... but boy, was I ever wrong. Las Vegas came calling!

My husband Michael, my children and I were invited to celebrate the birthday of a good friend of ours in Las Vegas two weekends ago, and were thrilled at the opportunity to get away and spend some quality time together as a family. One of my favorite things about Russian culture is that we include our children in all of the events that we throw, so that they can build up the stamina for the future when they, as adults, will be the ones throwing these elaborate bashes! This life lesson is taught to Russian children at a very early age, and I can remember my parents teaching me this when I was just a young girl. Love it!

After arriving in Vegas, we were all very excited to see what this crazy, glittering city had in store for us. The new CityCenter really took my breath away... it's a must see! The CityCenter is a magnificent cluster of ultra sleek and modern buildings that appear in the middle of the Strip. Just when you think you've seen it all in Vegas, you obviously haven't! It's really futuristic, and reminded me of something out of Blade Runner, or downtown Manhattan re-created in a modernist way.

We toasted our friend in style on Saturday night, and spent much of Sunday exploring all of Vegas' remarkable sights. After having a delicious lunch with my family at Maggiano's, I wanted to be sure and say hello to the sales team at the Neiman Marcus Dress Department. I was floored and overjoyed to hear that one of Single's newest designs, the Blair Dress, is the department's best selling garment! The sales girls told me that it completely sold out after only 12 days on the sales floor. Woohoo! The dress is also available at Bloomingdale's - check out their selection of Single dresses here!

Afterwards, Michael and I took the kids to see one of the best magic shows in Vegas, The Rick Thomas Show at the Sahara. After the mesmerizing show, we were lucky enough to meet Rick backstage and get up close and personal with his majestic tigers. This was truly an unforgettable experience for both myself and my children. Rick informed us that the tiger population is so endangered, and there are more tigers currently in the US than in all of the world. This is because they are worth upwards of $100,000 dead, so evil poachers try their best to hunt them down. Rick has long felt a connection to these giant creatures, and is helping to restore their population by building an enormous breeding compound right here in Vegas!

We ended our weekend with dessert at Mix Restaurant, which is on the 64th floor of The Hotel, which provided some breathtaking views of the city. An overall fabulous weekend, I can't wait to return to Vegas soon! Check out some photos below of me and Rick Thomas, as well as of his cats Chaos and Max - soo cute!

Galina
