Hi friends!
As you may know, I love Lord & Taylor. Commonly considered the "dress address," if a girl in NYC needs a dress for any occasion, she goes to Lord & Taylor first. The Fifth Avenue flagship store is magnificent. The Art Deco decor and those mirrors always make me feel like Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" - all that's missing are the gloves!
Lord & Taylor has proven extremely loyal to both me and the Single brand - they have stuck with the brand through these difficult economic times, and are reaping the benefits of their dedication lately. How cool is it that last week alone Lord & Taylor sold 150 Single dresses? Talk about a stellar retail performance! Amazing :)
I love telling their personal shoppers and managers that the majority of Single's dress collection is proudly made in California - which is much more than I can say for our competition. While others are packing up and moving their production out of the USA and into places like China, it is so important to me to support our local economy and produce our garments here, in the fabulous USA! By doing this, Single is supporting Los Angeles contractors and preventing unemployment, if only somewhat in our Downtown LA neighborhood. I love that Lord & Taylor supports this!
As a clothing designer, I set my mind to make a stand against the foreign production of my line. It is so important to me to design and manufacture most of the collection locally. The US gave me a chance to succeed, and it is my honor, duty and privilege to give back! When all is said and done, Single is able to provide better customer service and re-order product in the short time span of 2-3 weeks by manufacturing domestically. China can never compete with this :)
I want to use my blog to personally thank Lord & Taylor for their remarkable loyalty, and their devotion and willingness to give Single - a relatively small company - the chance to not only survive but to THRIVE in today's economic climate. Lord & Taylor is amazing!!
